But we keep issuing I’m-Not-Responsible-For-My-Actions certificates. If not you, then who is? Your parents? Your chromosomes? Society? God? Chocolate?
James warns us against using excuses for wicked conduct, saying, “No one, when tempted, should say, ‘I am being tempted of God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it.” James 1:13-14.
It is a great time to own up. Blaming your misdeeds only gets in the way of healing. If you can choose, you are responsible for that choice. Your certificate is hereby revoked.
