It’s a reality that some people tell you what you want to hear. It is sometime easy to believe what they say, but look out, it’s a cruel world. Many people live their lives for their own pleasure and bask in the opportunity to take advantage of you. They watch you work, then move in.
I remember when we passed notes, had no cell phones and riding a bike 8 miles to see a girlfriend. But now, in this world of social media we have everything at our finger tips, yet nothing real. We are finding out that real friends are hard to come by. You may have likes, birthday wishes and shares, but they wouldn’t be around if it wasn’t so convenient.
Perhaps you have been taken advantage of by a close friend. It is never easy to handle a fake. A genuine friend values your trust. A fake friend will abuse it. A real friend is happy for your success, a fake one will try to one up you. Real friends enjoy listening, fake ones can’t stop talking. Real friends take thoughtful effort to reach out and build relationships. A fake shows little or no effort.
Sharks are a game changer. At some point you have to look around and shed the sharks in your life.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
