One of the reasons people struggle with contentment is because we’re always looking for explanations for why things happen in our lives.
“Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for him” Psalm 37:7a
We are bombarded with life’s questions. Why did I get cancer? Why did she die so soon? Why did my wife leave me? Why did he rip me off? Why did my kid turn out that way? Why does God save some and not others? The questions are endless. We learned it from a young age. We want to know why! But unfortunately, the ‘why’ doesn’t always get answered and we have to be o.k. with it. Why you ask?
We are limited in our wisdom and comprehension and very rarely will we be able to grasp the true worth of that which what God gives us. There are moments we simply can’t comprehend what God is doing. We get caught up in the gift rather than the giver. James 1:17, reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from our heavenly Father. It’s rather simple. He knows what we need, we don’t. He is constantly molding us into what he designed us to be.
You may never know the why. Can you be content with that?
Trust the one who knows. He never never fails.
Trust leads to faith which leads to contentment.
