In the military we camo’d up to conceal our identity or blend in with our surroundings. Much like this picture of the camouflaged shooter it would be hard to spot him for sure. It’s strategic in war, but does it make sense in the Christian life?
To many Christians blend in with the world. It’s almost hard to identify what team people are on these days. So many pretenders out there and many are hiding inside the church. Remember Saul? When he was converted, he didn’t try to blend in at all. Instead he openly went to work for King Jesus. Keep in mind, Paul was murdering Christians; he openly hated Christians. Once converted you’d think he had a good reason to go about his life flying below the radar. Yet, his inward change motivated him actively share the message of the gospel. The way Paul went about sharing the gospel would make him look like a“radical” in today’s society.
The Bible warns us about blending in with the world and taking on their practices. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) This verse describes the world but also people that profess to know and love God.
COMMITTED NOT CAMOUFLAGED
It’s a powerful commitment to stand for Christ. Every chance I get, every place I go, this is what my life is going to be about. God does incredible things with a person who is totally surrendered to Him. I want to be part of that! Wouldn’t it be amazing if it was said of you? Here is a person who confessed Jesus Christ, demonstrated a loyalty to Jesus, and one who showed joy in doing so. That doesn’t just happen. You must uncamouflage first.
HOW TO UNCAMOUFLAGE YOURSELF
- Realize this world is a temporary thing and your citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20)
- Fear God, feed on His Word and obey it.
- Strive to live this life representing Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20) How can you blend in if you are doing that?
- Stop embracing the world’s values instead pursue holiness. (Hebrews 12:14).
- Hate evil and pursue good.
Ephesians 5:8-18 some time which starts, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light..”
Remember who gives you the power to stand. “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Phil. 2:13
“Therefore we do not lose heart…”.2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Psalms 37:4-I know that as long as my joy is in Him, the desires I have in my heart will be from Him.
Stand unashamed for the King. Be blessed my friends.
